TOTD V: The resurrection

Tastes of the Darkness is coming back to a blog near you (or on the other side of the world too.) From now on, future editions of Tastes of the Darkness will be hosted on this blog and will still link to pieces posted on the author’s own blogs.

In keeping with the theme of the resurrection, all pieces should be about zombies, things coming alive etc. Post your piece onto your own blog before June 11th and email the link to benjamin *AT* benjaminsolah *dot* com with the subject line including the initials TOTD.

I’ll then post the links to all the submissions in a post here within the next two days after the 11th.

Update: Due to lack of submissions, I have extended the deadline to the 18th of June. Get your submissions in and spread the word on your blog!

Another (late) Update: Sorry for lack of further news, but I’ve recently moved out of home, and had some Internet and time-related issues. But there have been no further submissions and so I’ve opened up the submission deadline indefinitely until we have a decent number of stories to put together an issue.

A revival?

Some may remember this little project once upon a time. We used to post a collection of links to flash fiction pieces posted on writer-bloggers’ blogs and we had a lot of fun doing it.

As of late, I’ve forgotten about it; this was due to a lack of bloggers willing to host the carnival on their blog and also because I found a full-time job and am working full-time.

So, if people are still reading this blog, or subscribed to RSS and eagerly awaiting an update, I’m putting the call out. Are people still interested in doing Tastes of the Darkness? If so, I’m willing to host the next edition, and try to canvas some big name bloggers to host in the future. And if you’re interested, leave a comment here, but not just that. Put the call out on your own blog and get more writers involved.

Tastes of the Darkness IV

Firstly, my apologies for the lack of updates. Work on Tastes of the Darkness has been slow, and interest has been low, which has transferred to my lack of enthusiasm towards the project.

Tastes of the Darkness IV is online at Third Eye Writers for your reading pleasure. So, please head over and read some of the latest work from the Blogosphere’s most twisted.

Also, I have decided that Tastes of the Darkness will not be produced on a regular basis. Instead, it will be produced when a blogger puts their hand up to do the carnival. So, if you’re a blogger and you want to host the next edition, please email and we’ll schedule everything.

Tastes of the Darkness IV coming soon!

I’m sorry for the lack of news regarding the fourth edition of Tastes of the Darkness. There was no host putting up their hand, and only one submission (not mine). I’m not sure if it was the theme (history) that put people off, or whether people were waiting for the host to be announced, but I want the carnival to go ahead. If we don’t find a host, it can be hosted here.

Please leave a comment if you’re still interested in participating in the carnival.

Update: 3rd Eye Writers, at its new home, will be hosting the carnival again. Submissions for the fourth edition are due by the 2nd of August. Send the link to your piece to with ‘Tastes of the Darkness’ in the subject, so that the email will get through. Submit ASAP on the theme history.

Tastes of the Darkness #3 is here!

The third edition of this wonderful horror carnival is now online at Fred Charles’ Blog. Head on over and read some excellent flash from some great bloggers.

And with the new edition comes opening for the next one. We’re looking for a host for this edition, as well as future ones. Email if you want to be a host. In the meantime, email me the URLs to your pieces on the theme of history.

Looking forward to my next fortnightly scare.

Update: If anyone is waiting for the host to be announced, never fear. If we do not have a host, I’ll post the carnival here, on this site. Please send your entries soon.

Tastes of the Darkess #2 is out now!

The second edition of Tastes of the Darkness is now online at Third Eye Writers! It went on the theme of ‘Betrayal’ and a big thanks to Jayne d’Arcy for hosting it.

The next edition will be posted in a fortnight on the 28th and there will be no theme. Just go for it! If you would like to host the next edition, please email me. And most importantly, post your flash fiction pieces to your blog and email me the URL, and I’ll pass them on to the host when they are confirmed.

Update: Fred Charles will be hosting the next edition. Please post your flash fiction to your blog and send the link to by June 28.
